Overall my four years at London Met were amazing. I made some great friends with both students and lecturers. All the modules were useful in starting a career in IT. I would like to thank my lecturers for all of their help over the four years.

Since graduating in 2017 I have changed roles from a software developer to now work in network engineering for Ericsson, a big telecommunications company. This has showed me that undertaking this course can really enable a person to switch to different roles and even different industries.

As of right now I work for the London Metropolitan Police Cyber Security Unit. I have the role of a Cyber Security Specialist. I think every student can benefit from the technical Computing BSc course. With the forever expanding technology field, there will always be a job out there for you. Not to mention our top notch lecturers and continuous support.

I never once felt alone without help; lecturers always helped me out without giving too much away and that motivated me to do my own research and produce coursework to the best of my ability.

The course put me in an excellent position when approaching employers about prospective positions. For instance, I scheduled 10 interviews in the first month of leaving London Met, seven of which had offered me the position by the end of my interview. I can only credit my success to London Met, the skills they provided me and my determination to ‘climb the ladder’ in this industry.

From my experience in interviews and speaking with recruiters, I would say that London Met’s Programming and Software Engineering modules are by far the most helpful when leaving University and looking for an entry point to your new career. 

The Computing BSc course has helped me in many ways. The certificate served as a springboard for my admission to University College London (UCL) to study a master’s in Software Systems Engineering.

Upon completion of my master’s, I secured employment at Quant Marketing Ltd in London as a junior support engineer.

My journey in Computing BSc was very positive, we had a lecture then a workshop on the same day so we could get practical experience working with the theory we just learned fresh in our head.

I also really like the way the topics were very closely related to future workplace scenarios, which I feel really helped me when I started applying for graduate jobs, as I didn’t do a placement year or an internship which a lot of employers prefer all I could speak about was my coursework and some of the employers were really impressed.

This Computing BSc degree has provided me with a strong foundation from which I can access several roles in the IT/software development sector. Each year of the degree contains modules that keep the topic feeling fresh. I could measure the improvements to my core technical skills whilst also gaining a deeper understanding of the industry. As a mature student, I can recommend London Met to anyone wanting to develop new skills or change career.

I thought the way the modules on my course linked together was excellent and set me up with skills I can use in the workplace. It also allowed me to have a more in-depth look at the differences and similarities of programming languages. The staff were also very supportive and easily accessible. If I ever had any problems, I could simply email them or visit them in their office where they were happy to offer help and advice.

It’s a nice university, with loads of employability opportunities which is needed in this times. And the flexibility to student is great
